Now that I pretend to be an adult,
I like to get up every morning and paint a face of makeup on that makes it appear like I enjoy going to work. I was never into makeup as a teenager, mainly because I wasn’t allow to wear it and I didn’t know what the heck to do with all of these different products so I just did not try.
Now fast forward to 2016 Chel who understands make up (shout out to YouTube) and enjoys trying out new products and looks.
Side note: If you’re in need of some makeup tutorials I highly suggest Jaclyn Hill, Manny MUA and Nikkie Tutorials. Each have their own style but are all equally hilarious and have taught me so much about makeup application and new products.
Listed below are my makeup must haves for my everyday look. Let me know what you think in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe!
So Nikkie Tutorials turned me on to this stuff. The Nivea Men Post Shave Balm has glycerin in it which makes your makeup adhere to your face longer. The trick is to put it on your skin and work it in until it starts to feel tacky. Then you’re ready to apply your foundation.
For foundation I’m really into the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation (Shade W2). It is pretty expensive when it comes to drugstore makeup but it’s still less than something you’d buy at Sephora.
My concealer is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (shade fair neutral). It is amazing. You can read more about these two products in my January Favorites post.
Contour, Blush & Highlight
For my contour I use the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. This may be the best palette I have ever used for contouring. The powders are creamy and highly pigmented not to mention they blend like a dream. I use the color “Shadowplay” for my contour. This palette is a double win because the shade “Lyric” also works as my setting powder for my concealer (nothing worse than being a creasey). Rumor has it soon they’ll be selling these shades individually so you will not have to splurge for the whole palette.
Never have I been a fan of blush but Becca Mineral Blush in shade “Flowerchild” is one shade that I like to wear that gives my cheeks just the touch of color they need.
This highlighter is ahhhh-mazing. It’s the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter. It was designed by YouTuber Jaclyn Hill, who I mentioned earlier. This gives you a glow like nothing else I’ve experienced. Depending on how much you use you can make this work for day or night time application. It’s always nice when makeup artist do collabs with companies because the product always comes out better. They care about what they’re putting their name on and boy oh boy does it show in this highlighter.
The Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette is so beautiful. It has a range of matte and shimmer shades which works great for creating my daytime look. I always start with a nice transition color like “Flower Child” and then build my look from there. My personal favorite shade is “Funny Girl”.
Not much things are better than sex but this mascara rightfully earned its name. This is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara in black. I already was #blessed with very long lashes and this just brings them to another level. I always get asked if I have extensions when I’m wearing this mascara, but I’m like No, they’re mine #divahand.
Since the world finally moved out of the “pencil thin eyebrows are in phase” (THANK GOD) getting the perfectly sculpted brow is all any girl wants. Anastasia Beverly Hills is the QUEEN of brows. You start off with your Brow Wiz (soft brown) and you use small strokes to fill your brows in with a natural look.
My brows are also super long and grow like weeds. They’re fresh to death in the morning but by the afternoon they’re all over the place again. I put a little of the brow gel on and it keeps the hairs in place ALL DAY. It’s like eyebrow super glue aka GOLD.
So you know your basic TEN products to use on your face everyday. It takes a lot to make this face look good.
