What I Really Think of Dry January

Guys, I’ve got to tell you something.

I’ve been lying to you the whole month of January. I tried to figure out if I should tell you on Instagram stories but I decided I’d make a post out of this so I could really explain myself. Okay, so here it is..

I haven’t drank any alcohol in over a month.

Okay, it was only three weeks but anyways. I tried out this thing I’m sure you’ve all heard of called dry January.

So, if you are not familiar with this term, it’s where you don’t have any alcohol for the whole entire month of January. People chose to do it in January as a cleanse of sorts from the long holiday season which, in my case, involved a lot of drinking.

By abstaining from alcohol many people hope to achieve mental clarity, weight loss, clearer skin, improved sleep and overall better health.

I was up for the challenge and TBH it couldn’t hurt to lose a couple pounds after all the holidays. Can I get an Hallelujah!

My results were shocking..

Not one thing changed for me. I didn’t lose any weight. I didn’t sleep better, think more clear or have less acne. I even ate better and replaced my wine with weights for those 21 days.

And nada.

In conclusion, I think dry January was more of a mental thing for me than anything. Could I, Chel Loves Wine, actually refrain from drinking any booze for a set number of days. It was easier than I thought to just say no. I even went an engagement party and after the toast I gave my champagne to Pete. #DEDICATEDTOTHECAUSE

I give props to people who can make it through a dry January or this awful thin I’ve heard about called Whole30 which says alcohol is bad for you (no thanks!)

However, it’s time to get back to our regularly scheduled programing. AKA tune into my Insta stories (@chelloveswine) to see everything I’m drinking all day, all everyday.

xoxo, CLW
